Vaccination saves approximately 3 million lives every year worldwide.
The World Health Organization recommends that countries ensure a vaccination coverage of 95% in order to achieve herd immunity. This significantly reduces the number of people who can become infected. In the absence of vaccination or when coverage drops below 90%, there is a higher risk of recurrent outbreaks and epidemics.
Diseases that can be prevented through immunization may cause severe complications or even death. They continue to pose a threat to human health. Vaccination is the most effective and accessible solution to protect children’s future.
“Vaccines have saved more children’s lives than any other medical intervention” (unicef.org), stated Svetlana Nicolaescu, State Secretary of the Ministry of Health, during a press conference held in the context of the European Immunization Week (Chișinău, April 26, 2022).
